Please Park Safely Outside Schools... |
||
|
Hi all, After receiving complaints about inconsiderate parking outside certain schools, this morning we have patrolled and offered “advice” to some drivers. …. Park safely outside schools
We often sends alerts specifically regarding school road safety, particularly at the start of new terms or following reports of dangerous parking.
Here are samples of the "Park Safely" messages and the advice they "Pick-up and drop-off times are busy outside schools. This can cause an increased safety risk to both children and parents. Parking restrictions outside schools are there to keep you and your children safe. Parking inconsiderately can put people in danger and you also risk being fined". The "Don't Plonk It" Campaign The West Midlands Police run a specific initiative called "Don't Plonk It – Park It!" aimed at tackling pavement parking. Sample Warning: "Being ditzy is no excuse... Obstructing pavements is extremely dangerous for visually impaired individuals and people with pushchairs". Action Taken: Officers may leave "Polite Notices" on windscreens or, in severe cases, seize vehicles that block pushchairs.
Yellow Zigzags: Do not stop or park on yellow zigzag lines (often marked 'School Keep Clear'). These ensure children have a clear view when crossing. "Park and Stride": Police actively encourage parents to park "at least two roads away from the school and walk" the final part of the journey. Obstructions: Never park across dropped kerbs, block driveways, or stop in the middle of the road to let children out. Visibility: Avoid parking within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction or on a bend. 4. Enforcement & Reporting Alerts remind parents that they are being watched by more than just the police: Operation Snap: Residents and staff are encouraged to submit video or photo evidence of dangerous parking directly to the police via Operation Snap. Civil Enforcement: Most parking fines (Penalty Charge Notices) are issued by local council civil enforcement officers, but the police can still issue Fixed Penalty Notices for "obstruction".
